Delhi Renames 3 Metro Stations: Pitampura Now ‘Madhuban Chowk’

Pitampura Metro Station Name Changed: In a major update for Delhi Metro commuters, the Delhi government has officially renamed three metro stations to improve navigation and reflect stronger local identity. The announcement was made on Sunday, bringing immediate attention from daily travellers across the capital.

According to the new changes:

  • Pitampura Metro Station has been renamed Madhuban Chowk,

  • Haiderpur Badli Mor is now Haiderpur Village, and

  • The under-construction Prashant Vihar station will be called North Pitampura/Prashant Vihar.

Officials said these names better represent the geographical and cultural characteristics of each area, helping commuters easily identify their routes.

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta stated that the move wasn’t just symbolic. According to her, the new names fulfill several key objectives:

  • Preserving traditional and cultural relevance of the area

  • Smoothening navigation for the city’s rapidly growing metro ridership

The decision reportedly came after continuous demands and suggestions from local residents.

Many residents said that “Madhuban Chowk” is already the widely used name for the area, making the change logical and practical.

Announcement Made During Rezang La Memorial Event

The name change was declared during the “Rezang La Martyr Sacred Ashes” event held in Haiderpur Village.
The Chief Minister said the sacrifices of India’s martyrs inspire the spirit of “Nation First,” and the event was the right moment to honor both local heritage and national pride.

Once updated across the system, the new names will appear on:
