Air India Emergency Landing in Bhopal: All 172 Passengers Safe

An Air India A320 Neo aircraft (Flight AIC 2487, VT-EXO) operating from Delhi to Bengaluru made an emergency landing at Bhopal’s Raja Bhoj Airport on Monday night after a technical warning in the cargo hold.

All 172 passengers and crew members onboard were reported safe, officials confirmed.

🔴 What Happened

According to airport authorities, the pilot received a technical alert from the cargo compartment around 7:33 PM (IST), prompting the crew to declare a “full emergency”.

Emergency response teams, including Air Traffic Control (ATC) and airport fire services, were immediately put on standby. However, within a few minutes, the cockpit crew reported that the warning had cleared and all systems were functioning normally.

✈️ Safe Landing Confirmed

The aircraft landed safely at 8:00 PM, and the situation was brought under control without any disruption to other airport operations.

“All passengers and crew are safe. Our team responded as per standard operating procedures, and the flight landed without incident,” said Airport Director Ramji Awasthi.

⚙️ Aircraft Inspection Underway

Following the safe landing, the aircraft was moved to the parking bay for technical inspection by Air India engineers. Preliminary checks suggest that the warning may have been triggered by a sensor fault, though the final report is awaited.

An Air India spokesperson confirmed that a replacement aircraft was being arranged for passengers to continue their journey to Bengaluru.
